- Editor]

Assalamu'alaikum saudara Marhaintua,

LEMAK"
terutama pasa subtajuk "TAKTIK YANG SAMA DI KEPULAUAN MELAYU".

Tengku Abd. Rahman-Sukarno tidak pernah berbaik. Malaysia-Indonesia berkonferantasi.

Apabila Habibie menjadi Presiden Indonesia, Anwar masih Timbalan Perdana Menteri. Zionist-Yahudi-Kristian tidak membenarkan Anwar menjadi Perdana Menteri. Jika Anwar menjadi Perdana Menteri, hubungan Anwar-Habibie boleh menyatukan Malaysia-Indonesia seperti gagasan Melayu Raya/Maphilindo/Malindo. Kemudian Melayu Patani, Champa, Mindanau, Vietnam, Rohingya dan lain-lain akan bergabung. Ini yang ditakuti oelah Zionist-Yahudi-Kristian.

Anwar disingkirkan. Habibie disingkirkan.

New US envoy to Malaysia arrives to take up post

KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 21 (AFP) - The new US Ambassador to Malaysia, B. Lynn Pascoe, arrived here Thursday to take up his posting, as analysts predicted a tough time ahead for the new envoy.

Pascoe, who will present his credential to King Tuanku Ja'afar soon, arrives when ties betweeen the two countries face some "challenging times," Abdul Razak Baginda, head of the Malaysian Strategic Research Centre told AFP.

"I won't say relations are at the lowest ebb but Pascoe's arrival is at a challenging time," he said.

"Pascoe provides some hope for improvement in ties -- closing an old chapter and opening a new one," Razak said.

Razak said the main task for Pascoe was to put US-Malaysia ties on track, adding that Malaysia must also recognise the fact that "it needs the support of the United States and it cannot afford to isolate itself."

"But fundamentals remain strong. US is Malaysia's largest trading partner and it is a major source for domestic investments," he added.

The previous envoy John Malott was summoned to the foreign ministry last November following US Vice President Al Gore's expression of support for the reform movement of detained former deputy premier Anwar Ibrahim during the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation forum.

Malaysia voiced strong objection to Gore's provocative remarks and said Gore's statement was an incitement to lawlessness.

Observers said that the Anwar issue was a thorn in the flesh of US-Malaysia ties. "This is a major issue," said a political analyst who asked not to be named.

Anwar, 51, on Wednesday marked four months in detention since he was detained on September 20.

He was sacked in early September amid bitter policy differences with Mahathir and arrested under internal security laws after leading protests against his former chief.

He was later charged with 10 counts of corruption and sexual misconduct all of which he has denied, saying they are part of a conspiracy by his political enemies.

Pascoe, 56, is a career diplomat, who has previously served in Moscow, Hong Kong and Bangkok. He speaks Mandarin and Russian.

Malaysia

Malaysia is an important political, economic, and military partner for the United States in Southeast Asia. However, Vice-President Gore's public support of the "Reformasi" movement in 1998: the conviction and imprisonment of former Deputy Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim in 1999 for corruption; and, the inflammatory rhetoric of Prime Minister Mahathir have all had a chilling effect on US-Malaysian political dialogue at the highest levels as well as cooperation at the working level of both governments.

The next three years will be a critical period in the US-Malaysia bilateral relationship. During this period, Malaysia's leadership structure will undergo a significant transition. Mahathir's (self-declared final) term of office as Prime Minister ends in November 2004. Concurrently, economic prosperity competes with political disenchantment as the driving force behind the future votes of the majority Malay population, with the primary beneficiary being the fundamentalist Islamic party PAS.

Given this environment, we believe that the US Government should pursue a strategy of active engagement with the Malaysian Government as a means to rebuild the bilateral relationship between the two countries.
