Assalamualaikum/Selamat Sejahtera Semua Pejuang REFORMASI Rais Yatim, the man of the hour (in-coming Sec. Gen?) is in the news again. This time its another constitional ammendment! He has announced that the constitution, (that part involving the elections) will be ammended, needless to say, a direct result of YAA Justice Dato' Mohd Kamil's delivery in the "Likas" case. The ammendment, he adds, will render the electoral list, once gazetted, is the final document, devoid of any errors, additions and ommissions, AND shall not be subject to any judicial review! That the ammendment will be rubber-stamped through the two houses of parliament, is a forgone conclusion. No thanks to my beloved Chinese bretheren, who handed the two-thirds majority to Rais' party, "for fear of chaos, violence, burnings and destruction", had anybody BUT the BN came to power, back in November 1999! What does it mean? Malaysians had better think long and hard of the implication of such an ammendment. The bottomline is, phantom voters will "breed" like maggots in the shit pot, and there is nothing you or me, can do about it! The BN can henceforth rule pretty, ...until the camel passes through the eye of the needle! We all know that phantom voters are categorized as: Holders of blue (for citizens only) identity cards illegally issued Holders of fake IC and temporary IC Electors with duplicate IC numbers Electors disqualified through court convictions Then there are other ways of manipulation. Like moving one's name out from where it belongs, to some god-forsaken place, IF, one had not taken the pain to continually check the list each time a registration exercise is being carried out (before being gazzetted). How about finding out (at the last minute) that Tuan Guru Nik Aziz's polling station is now in Belaga, at the foot of the Bakun Dam? Or that of "comrade" Karpal Singh in Rhu Sila (Terengganu)? We are saying. With the imminent ammendmend, these two scenarios are very distinct probabilities! And not even Augustine Paul can help you!
