MAS Rugi RM 3.17 Juta Sehari Purata

Saksikan sentuhan Tajuddin Ramli yang meninggalkan berbilion hutang (RM9.52 bilion) dan kerugian buat MAS selama ini. Daripada jumlah itu sebanyak M7.42 billion dalam bentuk matawang USDollar dan RM1.65 billion lagi dalam Yen bentuknya. Kalaulah kawalan matawang dihapuskan (seperti negara Turki) alamat hutang MAS itu akan bertambah berkali-kali ganda sehingga ia tidak mungkin terbang lagi....

Inikah bakat kroni yang disanjung tinggi oleh Mahathir sedangkan SIA (Singapore Airlines) tetap untung walaupun Singapura tidak empunya minyak seperti Malaysia dan mempunyai lapangan terbang yang tidak secanggih kita.

Mereka lebih cekap mengurus tetapi Malaysia cepat membuang pengurus hebat seperti Datuk Aziz Abdul Rahman yang menaikkan nama MAS di mata dunia untuk memberi laluan kepada Tajuddin menjadi begitu kaya. Dengan RM856.7 juta rugi pada fiskal lepas selama 9 bulan, ini bermakna MAS rugi purata sebanyak RM856.7juta bahagi 270 = 3.17 juta sehari! Bakat berniaga apake benda kalau macam ini? Bikin malu negara sahaja!

MAS is RM856.7 million in the red for first nine months

Malaysian Airlines System Bhd (MAS) posted a huge net loss of RM856.7 million for the nine months ended Dec 31, 2000, compared with a net profit of RM42.89 million in the previous corresponding period.


Announcing its results this evening, MAS said turnover, however, was 15.7 per cent higher at RM6.07 billion, compared with the previous RM5.94 billion.

For the third quarter, MAS incurred a net loss of RM458.62 million, which is almost double the RM232.18 million losses recorded in the previous period, despite a higher turnover of RM2.3 billion against the RM2.13 billion in the same period in 1999.

During the nine-month period, MAS' borrowings stood at RM9.52 billion, of which RM912.21 million is due in 12 months. Of this, RM7.42 billion and RM1.65 billion are denominated in US dollars and yen respectively.

For the current year, the company said it would seek to improve earnings through better cost-management, load factors and route rationalisation.

It noted that its main expenditure -- jet fuel prices -- are expected to remain high this year, while the global consolidation trend would further increase competition pressure.
